About Me

I am a passionate researcher with a strong foundation in data-driven approaches and a commitment to advancing healthcare outcomes by pushing the boundaries of our understanding of biological systems.

Currently, I work as a Computational Neuroscientist at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC, USA, where I utilize advanced data analysis methods to uncover insights into the complex functioning of the brain. My work involves applying deep learning algorithms to imaging and single-cell sequencing data, enabling me to identify patterns and relationships that may not be apparent through traditional biological approaches.

I completed my Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) from Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India. After gaining valuable experience as an Associate Biomodeling Scientist at Cellworks Research India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, where I developed computational cancer models using kinetic and ordinary differential equations, I joined the Complex Systems Lab at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore.

Driven by my desire to contribute to my home state, I returned to Himachal Pradesh to pursue my doctoral studies at JUIT. During this time, I worked on projects funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, and the Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DIHAR-DRDO). I employed multi-omics analysis to identify previously unknown secondary metabolism pathways in Himalayan medicinal plants, which could be enhanced to increase the production of valuable compounds. I also served as a Senior Research Fellow at JUIT.

Upon completing my doctoral research, I moved to the USA to further my academic pursuits. My dedication and excellence in research have been recognized through numerous poster and oral presentation awards. I was nominated for the Japanese Govt. Fellowship and the Commonwealth Fellowship, and was shortlisted by several top international universities for postdoctoral research.

Committed to giving back to my community, I founded the E-Kiran Foundation and established a fellowship to support students from Himachal Pradesh in pursuing their studies and passions.

My research focuses on bioinformatics and interdisciplinary domains, seeking to unravel molecular mechanisms. My work has been published in various reputed journals, including those by the Nature Publishing Group, in the form of research articles, abstracts, and book chapters.
